Come, stay awhile, and discover the magic of the rock.

Where do I start? I’m from Stephenville, Newfoundland — born and raised; I didn’t leave the island until my early twenties. Between the jigs and reels, I met someone who would become my best friend and my partner. We married, and I took his last name: Claxton. Though we’ve been living upalong for quite some time, Newfoundland has always been home — a place of peace, comfort, and calm. Lately, the pull to return has grown stronger than I can even put into words. In March 2025, we purchased a property right in my hometown. It’s funny to think that the area where our house now stands used to be thick woods when I was a child. I have vivid, joyful memories of playing in those woods with my brothers — memories I hold dear. While we’re not able to live there full-time (yet!), we're happy to share Casa Claxton with guests who, like us, appreciate a cozy and peaceful place to land. Whether traveling for a bit of work, a bit of rest, or a bit of both.Oh — and why the Spanish "casa" in the title? Honestly, I think it goes back to years of watching Law & Order: SVU!We’ve somehow ended up with a little sprinkle of Spanish in our lives — our cat is named Mijo, and the Google doorbell at our upalong home is called Escuela. So when someone rings the bell, Google cheerfully announces: “Someone is at the escuela.” Sure, it means “school,” not “door,” but it works for us!I hope you enjoy your stay, mi casa es su casa!- Nicole.
